Peter, Jakob,

thank you for your replies. I love it, there should be more of it, and I eat it on toast whenever I can :)

Jakob: so glad you can order it and get it where you are - this gives me hope for the world :)

Best regards, Andrew

Well, tastes do vary, but I promise you that I really, really LIKE Vegemite (and Marmite, too)! I first became aware of it in a John Williamson song (Home Among the Gum Trees)and set out on a search for the stuff. In northern Wisconsin that was a challenge. I finally found Marmite at a grocery salvage store and discovered that it is delicious and nutritious. Later I ordered Vegemite from its birthplace through GreatAussieFood.com.au. Yes, I enjoy it on toast, as suggested in the song and by tradition, but I like it in many other ways, too. It's great on various breads and crackers and on a slice of aged cheddar cheese. Some fruits and veggies take well to it. I have even tried it with success on pizza! I don't eat any meat, so I cannot speak for its compatibility there, but Vegemite is a versatile, delicious, nutritious, and fun food. Those who cast aspersions need help.

Hi! It does taste a bit like crap but seeing that mum told me it was good for me, many moons ago, I still eat it. Makes good soup as well!

Hi James,

thank you for your comment.

I think that it is fair to say that many wondrous things have come out of Melbourne through the years - and truth be told, I still enjoy vegemite on toast for breakfast every now and then.

Best regards, Andrew

Vegemite is produced [or was] in Salmon St., Port Melbourne and is therefore a wondrous product.
